Board of Regents Information
The Provost is responsible for communicating with the Board of Regents, State of Iowa, regarding all academic matters. This responsibility requires coordinating the submission of annual governance reports on topics such as academic program review and student outcomes assessment, faculty activity and workload, faculty salaries, retirements and resignations, requests for professional developmental assignments, and many others.
The Provost advocates for all of the University's academic requests to the Board of Regents--including requests to create, eliminate, or modify departments, degree programs, or centers; enact administrative reorganizations; and appoint deans and directors--and is frequently called upon to respond to ad hoc Regental inquiries.
The Provost shares with the vice presidents the responsibility for preparing and submitting many other annual reports to the Board of Regents, including budget requests and adjustments and strategic planning progress updates.
