As part of our series of annual policy notifications, this memo provides information on the campus policy related to performance reviews for University staff. The policy,, is relevant to all staff members as recipients of performance reviews and to supervisory faculty and staff who provide performance reviews.

Performance review conversations facilitate a staff member's growth and development and assist in the achievement of your unit goals as well as those of the University. We encourage all staff and supervisors to engage in future-oriented discussions based upon a review of last year's accomplishments, identifying opportunities for development and priorities as goals for the upcoming year. The annual performance review should be a continuation of the discussions staff members and supervisors engage in throughout the year, with the opportunity to summarize the discussion on the performance review form as well as record an overall performance rating.
